Mt. Pilatus: Maker of weather, dragon’s lair, home to giants and grave of rulers: Lucerne’s very own mountain, Pilatus, is one of the most legendary places in Central Switzerland. And one of the most beautiful. On a clear day the mountain offers a panoramic view of 73 Alpine peaks. Even today
Pilatus is a source of mystical discoveries and is home to places of natural beauty that are steeped in legend and lore. The mountain can be reached from Lucerne by gondola lift and aerial cable car.
WINTER: Soak up the sun above the clouds on Pilatus-Kulm, at 2,073m above sea level. In winter, there’s plenty of fun to be had on the two tobogganing runs from Fräkmüntegg to Krienseregg. You can rent toboggans at the Fräkmüntegg-Krienseregg middle station. The Christmas season begins on Pilatus-Kulm in mid- November with Europe’s highest Christmas market.

There is plenty to see and do on the First mountain, one of the most scenic areas in the Jungfrau region. Enjoy Skiing on Schilthorn; Part of the Jungfrau Ski Region, the Mürren-Schilthorn winter sports area stretches out from 1600 to almost 3000 metres above sea level. Its altitude makes the area particularly snow sure, enabling winter sports operations in the upper Birg-Schilthorn section until the end of April.
An extensive network of some 50 kilometres of perfectly prepared pistes caters to all tastes and abilities. The steepest ski slope is also located in this area: Piste No. 9 – the aptly named Direttissima – is 400 metres long and boasts a gradient of 88 percent.
